David Cameron references Star Wars

David Cameron was asked a Star Wars themed joke at Prime Minster’s Questions today – and responded in kind.

Conservative MP Oliver Dowden noted that the science fiction saga began life at film studios in his constituency.

The Prime Minister praised the UK film industry’s contribution to the film and responded to the question with a Star Wars-themed joke.

“I know that he will never join the dark side,” he told Mr Dowden.

The joke was not met with unanimous praise across the house.

One Labour MP, Chris Bryant, was apparently heard asking in jest for the PM to resign over the quip.

Part of the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens was filmed in Britain, including at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
