A major search has been launched for two teenage girls swept away in a stream.

Police using heat seeking equipment have been called in to find the 14-year-olds.

The youngsters were on a school trip Stainforth Beck, Stainforth, near Settle, North Yorkshire, when they disappeared.

A search of the area, near a waterfall where the beck joins the River Ribble, failed to find any trace of them and rescue teams were now concentrating their hunt on the river.

Specialist cave rescuers have also been drafted in.
