Detectives have issued a plea for information as they hunt a suspect wanted in connection with 17 sexual assaults in north London.

The attacks targeted lone women between February and December 2018.

Investigating officers believe the crimes are linked, after they discovered a series of similarities connecting the attacks.

Most of the victims were approached by the suspect near Willesden Green Underground Station.

He tried to talk to the women and often asked for a kiss and a hug before assaulting them.

The majority of the attacks happened late at night or in the early hours of the morning, over weekends.

"As the festive season continues we would recommend that people plan their journeys in advance and report anyone they believe to be acting suspiciously," said Detective Sergeant Neal Heffernan.

"We have also increased patrols in the area; these officers will be happy to speak with anyone and offer crime prevention advice and reassurance."

Police officers believe more victims may still come forward.

"It is also possible that there are further victims who, as yet, have not reported the crimes," Mr Heffernan said.

"I would encourage them to come forward and speak with us."

The suspect is described as a black man, of medium build.

He is thought to be aged in his 20s to 30s and wears dark clothing.

A number of arrests have been made but as of yet, police officers have not charged a single suspect.

Four men were separately arrested on suspicion of sexual assault between July and December 2018, in connection with the investigation.

Officers released two of the men with no further action.

A 37-year-old was arrested in July and was released under investigation.

A 24-year-old man was also arrested on 9 December and was bailed, pending further investigation.

Anyone with information about the assaults is asked to call Brent CID on 07747 476161 or on 101. Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
