Police are treating the discovery of a man's body in a graveyard as "unexplained".

Officers from Cleveland Police were called to Eston Cemetery, on Normanby Road in Middlesbrough, at around 2.50pm on Wednesday.

The officers arrived and found the man's body at the scene.

The man has not been formally identified, the force said.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained whilst enquires continue," a spokesperson for Cleveland Police said.

Bouquets of flowers were laid at the scene according to Teesside News, which also reported that officers worked at the scene throughout Wednesday afternoon.
