Handcuff ruling
Prisoners in police custody should not be brought before courts in handcuffs unless there were grounds for thinking they might be violent or try to escape, Lord Justice Leggatt ruled. He said magistrates in Cambridge had wrongly refused to hear an application for handcuffs to be removed from a defendant.
