GPs 'fail to warn on smoking'

Many family doctors fail to warn women smokers of the dangers of passive smoking to the foetus and young children, and do not discuss the adverse effects of smoking, such as low birth-weight and miscarriage, with pregnant patients. A survey of GPs highlighted a gap between their desire to help women stop smoking, and the quality of the help and advice they provided, according to the British Medical Association.
