Flights take off

The British Airports Authority has announced an increase in passenger numbers for June this year over 1992. Heathrow passengers rose 5.8 per cent to 4.19 million and Stansted 8 per cent to 283,700; Gatwick dropped 1.2 per cent to 1.89 million. Scottish airports rose 5.2 per cent. European scheduled traffic rose 6.3 per cent; North Atlantic flights were up 3.9 per cent, other long-haul flights by 5.2 per cent.
