THREE British tourists are recovering after being savagely pistol- whipped by armed muggers outside their hotel in Orlando, Florida.

Jason Davies, needed 28 stitches after the attack, which happened on Saturday as he was speaking on the telephone to his mother.

Mr Davies, 23, and his two friends Scott Abrams, 22, and Mark Newman, 23, all from Reading, Berkshire, were two days into their holiday when they were confronted by a gang in the forecourt of their hotel. Mr Abrams suffered cuts and bruises. Mr Newman suffered a broken nose and a fractured jaw.

Mrs Davies said that the trio had decided to continue their fly-drive holiday. 'They are sore, but at the moment they are staying out there.

'My son said that he was pistol- whipped. They have had to pin back his ear, because it was almost hanging off and they have stitched all down his neck,' she said.
