Stabbing case Avon lady will not face charges

The Avon saleswoman who stabbed a man to death was named yesterday, as police revealed that she was acting in self-defence and will not face charges. Wendy Hertz, 36, stabbed David Stuchbery, who had a history of psychiatric disorder, as she tried to fight off an attack, said Det Chief Insp Chris Sparks. A post-mortem examination showed Stuchbery, 49, died from a single wound to the chest.

Det Chief Insp Sparks said: "Mrs Hertz wants the world to know she wasn't raped, but she was sexually assaulted. He was in her home attempting to rape her and she fought him off.

"She was attacked by Mr Stuchbery in the hallway and in the course of protecting herself he received fatal injuries." Detectives said the evidence backed up her claims that she acted in self-defence at her home in Densole, Kent.
