Sir Joseph Donaldson Cantley, of London EC4, a former Judge of the Queen's Bench Division of the High Court, left estate valued at pounds 541,161 net.

Mr Stanley Wareing, of London SW11, former Benchers' Steward and Butler at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, left esate valued at pounds 122,307 net. He left his entire estate to form part of the general charitable funds of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple.

Miss Muriel Wendy Hall, of London NW3, left estate valued at pounds 788,424 net. After personal bequests of pounds 80,000, the residue was apportioned evenly between the Purcell School, Harrow, and the Bleddfa Trust, Knighton, Powys.

Mr David Theodore Bourne, of Edgbaston, Birmingham, left estate valued at pounds 223,166 net. He left his entire estate to Birmingham University, to buy books, photographs and memorabilia for the library and to fund research and teaching in engineering, medical research, and visits abroad by foreign language students.

After leaving personal effects of pounds 24,000, she left pounds 50,000 each to the RNLI, and Royal Star and Garter Home, Richmond; pounds 10,000 each to Brompton Oratory and the Cheshire Foundation; pounds 5,000 each to the Royal British Legion, St Joseph's Hospice, London E8, the Sisters of Nazareth, London W6, and the Little Sisters of the Assumption, London W11; and the residue to the Roman Catholic Bishop of Southwark, 'for the benefit of the Holy Father'.
