Kate Upton lets rip at Major League Baseball after fiance Justin Verlander misses out on award

Verlander lost out on the prize despite winning the most first-place votes

While American baseball player Justin Verlander may have reacted gracefully to losing out on an award, his girlfriend Kate Upton did not on his behalf.

Verlander, a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, was pipped to the post for the Cy Young Award – an award which is given to the best pitchers in Major League Baseball each year – by the Boston Red Soz player Rick Porcello.

After the result was announced, Upton vented her unhappiness that her fiance had not won the prize despite having the majority of first place ballots by 14 to 8 with her 2.2 million Twitter followers. He lost partly because Porcello had more second-place votes than him and two sports reporters left him entirely off their ballots meaning overall Porcello scored more in the points-based system.

In response, the Sports Illustrated model wrote: “I thought I was the only person allowed to f*** Justin Verlander?! What two writers didn't have him on their ballot?”

She followed with a series of tweets, including once which took aim at Porcello telling him that in her eyes he was not the winner. She also called for Major League Baseball to fire the writers who excluded Verlander from their ballot.

Verlander offered a more dignified concession by thanking those who did vote for him on Twitter.
