Bobbi Kristina Brown, daughter of the late entertainer Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown, has died aged 22.

A representative for the Houston family said Bobbi Kristina passed away surrounded by her family, seven months after being found unresponsive in a bath tub at the home she shared with her boyfriend Nick Gordon, who she referred to as her husband, in Atlanta.

Bobbi Kristina received medical treatment in hospitals and at a rehabilitation centre but never regained consciousness and was eventually moved to the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia, where she died on Sunday.

Her death echoes of that of her mother’s, whose body was found face-down in a foot of water in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Houston had evidence of heart disease and cocaine use, but her death was recorded as an accidental drowning.

Gordon was informally adopted by Houston in 2002 and grew up in the family home, but he began dating Bobbi Kristina shortly after the singer's death.

Her court-appointed representative sued him over allegations he beat her and accessed her bank account after she was put into a medically induced coma, taking $11,000 (£7,000). No one has been criminally charged in the case but Gordon was reportedly banned from visiting Brown by her family.
