Ariana Grande rebukes Ryan Seacrest for probing into her personal life live on air

Ariana Grande has challenged TV personality Ryan Seacrest after he probed about her private life on air.

Appearing on On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday, the 23-year-old pop star scolded her host Seacrest after he asked her to confirm rumours she was in a relationship with Mac Miller.

Grande argued Seacrest, who is also known for his presenting role on American Idol, was not “entitled” to personal information about her.

Referring to a photo which featured Grande embracing a man believed to be Miller, Seacrest said: “You recently confirmed your relationship with Mac Miller on Instagram”.

Grande snapped back: “How did we get there? What was that segway?”

After Seacrest protested that it was simply one of the interview questions on his list, Grande retorted: “Is that what that means? What are you asking? You said a sentence, there was no question. I don’t know man… it’s too early for this kind of tea".

Appearing visibly frustrated, she continued: “If I post something [on Instagram] that’s what I’m willing to share at that moment. It doesn’t mean that you - Ryan Seacrest, with millions of listeners - are entitled to more information".

This is not the first time Grande has taken down an interviewer. In November 2015, she told two presenters they needed “a brushing up on equality” after they insisted only woman use the unicorn emoji.

“You need brushing up on equality […] who says the unicorn emoji isn't for men? Alright, I changed my mind. I don't want to hang out at Power 106 [the radion station where she was appearing] anymore,” she said. In the interview, she was also asked which a girl could last without for longer: a phone or her makeup.

Representatives for Seacrest or Grande did not immediately respond to request for comment.
