The Prisoners of Conscience Appeal Fund is a small charity working world-wide to help people who have been persecuted, imprisoned and often tortured because of their religious or political beliefs - expressed non-violently - or their ethnic origin. The fund helps prisoners after they have been released: 480 people - many of them Kurds, Bosnians and Somalians coming to the UK - have been assisted in the last eight months.

The Director, Prisoners of Conscience Appeal Fund, 84c Carlton Hill, London NW8 OER, telephone 071-328 0153.
