MINISTERS faced fresh Labour backbench calls to restore cash benefits for asylum-seekers ahead of today's crucial vote on provisions in the Asylum and Immigration Bill.
Neil Gerrard, the MP for Walthamstow and chairman of the all-party group on refugees, said the Government's measure would set up an "alternative Benefits Agency" within the Home Office to administer the voucher system.
