The Queen opens the five-millionth home built under the National House Building Council scheme. The Princess Royal, Patron, the National Autistic Society, officially opens the society's new Head Office at 393 City Road, London EC1; opens Lansbury Lodge Project, 117 Ricardo Street, London E14; as President of Patrons, Crime Concern, opens the conference "Saturday Night Fever" at the Conference Forum, the Sedgewick Centre, London E1; attends a reception for Transaid at the RAC Club, Pall Mall, London SW1; and as President, the Save the Children Fund, attends a dinner to launch the Save the Children Fund's year as the adopted charity of the Institute of Directors at Leeds Castle, Maidstone, Kent. The Duke of Kent, Patron, the Hanover Band, attends a concert at the Wigmore Hall, London W1.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard, Horse Guards, 11am.
