A 31-year-old man charged with murdering a vicar who was stabbed to death in the grounds of his church was yesterday remanded in custody until Monday. Terence Peter Storey of no fixed address, but formerly of Harefield Road, Speke, Liverpool, was charged with murdering Christopher Gray, 32, at St Margaret's church, Anfield, early on Tuesday.

In addition, Storey was charged with aggravated burglary on the same date, while armed with a knife, taking a Ford Escort without consent, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to PC Thomas Mutch and a robbery at a launderette in Wallasey, Wirral, in which pounds 40 was stolen.
