Cremation battle

Two women, who fought over the right to cremate the body of the man they both loved, agreed to settle the case after a High Court judge appealed for them to see sense. David Brinson's estranged wife Sally, 40, of Sidcup, Kent, and his mistress Lorraine, of St Paul's Cray, Orpington, are estimated to run up a legal aid bill of pounds 10,000 since Mr Brinson's death in May.
