Sainsbury's to shut 28 Texas stores
Sainsbury's is to close only 26 branches of Texas Homecare, fewer than half the number expected when the supermarket group acquired the DIY chain in January. Two Homebase stores will also close. The 28 stores employ 866 staff but Sainsbury's says many will be redeployed at the 14 branches of Homebase which will open this year. The company also plans to open a further 80 branches of Homebase which could create up to 3,000 jobs.
