Plan for Virgin shuttle train
Richard Branson's Virgin group wants to begin a shuttle-style train service between London and Edinburgh next year when the British Rail network is opened up to private operators.
Virgin would run the service using converted 125 trains leased from British Rail. The re-equipped carriages would feature seat-back videos, telephones and fax machines.
