Omni Pronto Italia, Italy's first private telephone company, has signed an agreement with Nokia, the Finnish telephone company, to supply equipment for the country's new GSM mobile telephone network.
The contract is valued at £40m and paves the way for a £600m investment in Italy's recently deregulated telecommunications industry.
