The estate agency Winkworth yesterday said a strong finish to the year would see UK property transactions rise 10 per cent in 2012, despite a "subdued" market.
The London-focused company, which reported waning demand for homes costing more than £2m after a Budget tax raid, saw first-half profits slip 25 per cent to £421,000.
