Body armour maker goes into administration
More than 60 staff at Shieldtech, which supplies body armour to soldiers in Afghanistan and 25 British police forces, were made redundant yesterday after the company was placed in administration.
The administrator, RSM Tenon, said it hoped to find a buyer or investor for the business and its subsidiary, Aegis, within seven to 10 days.
The company, based in Woolston, Warrington, blamed its financial troubles on a drop in demand from police forces.
