Lex Service, one of the UK's largest car dealers, said conditions were mixed in the UK car market in the first quarter of 1995, with larger fleet sales up 8 per cent but private sales down by an equal amount. "This is having an adverse effect on mix and margins but we are encouraged by the commitment of car manufacturers to improving dealer profitability," the chairman and chief executive, Sir Trevor Chinn, told the annual meeting.
