THE HOTELS and brewing giant Bass is considering a bid for the Dutch lager brewer Grolsch, which last week rejected a pounds 370m offer from its Belgian rival Interbrew.

Bass already has a joint venture with Grolsch which gives it UK rights to market the Dutch brand in the UK. Bass is also said to be the lead bidder for the Gleneagles hotel and golf complex which is valued at around pounds 80m.
