Nationwide is launching its own credit and gold cards next month. They will charge 9.9 per cent on debit balances transferred from other cards for the first six months after transfer and 16.9 per cent for purchases not paid off by the due date each month. The cards offer up to 52 days' interest-free credit.

West Bromwich BS is offering mortgages fixed for three years at 6.45 per cent on up to 90 per cent of valuation, and for five years at 7.35 per cent on up to 75 per cent of valuation.

Telephone users can register with World Telecom (freephone 0800 3766370) and save up to 40 per cent on international phone calls and 21 per cent on UK national (not local) calls.

First Mortgage is offering a four-year fixed-rate mortgage at 6.99 per cent. The arrangement fee is pounds 295 and the early redemption penalty is 6 per cent within six years. Call free on 0800 080088.

This month only, broker Chase de Vere is offering a fee-free capped remortgage package at 7.25 per cent but guaranteed not to exceed 7.49 per cent in the next three years. A penalty applies for redemption within three years.

2 Lloyds Bank is launching a High Income deposit account paying a guaranteed 6.5 per cent a year over 12 months. Minimum amount pounds 2,500.
