People are hilariously showing off their photoshop skills after a woman broke proper etiquette by wearing white to a wedding.

In a viral Reddit post shared to the r/PhotoshopRequest forum last month, the bride - who goes by the username u/parkatgurl - shared a snap of herself, her husband, and all of their wedding guests at the event. The picture of the attendees also included one woman who wore all white – from the dress, coat, and shoes to the stockings – while standing next to the groom.

The Reddit user explained the situation in the caption, writing: “My husband’s relative wore white to our wedding and pushed our parents and wedding party out of the way to be in the front and centre.”

She then asked fellow Reddit users for editing help, adding: “Can someone photoshop her dress to black? I’d like to frame and and send to her with the new dress colour.”

In response, some people abided by the Reddit user’s request, with one person editing the guest’s white outfit into black pants, dress, jacket, and shoes. However, others took a more amusing approach to the photo editing request, with one person photoshopping the wedding guest out of the front of the picture. Instead, the woman was seen smiling in the back, next to the crowd of wedding guests, with only a portion of her face noticable.

Many Reddit users went on to praise the editing, while also critcising the guest for wearing white in the first place

“Hands down the best submission I’ve seen on this subreddit. Fantastic work,” one wrote, while another quipped: “This was like playing Where’s Waldo, but with a petty twist.”

A third wrote: “I can’t find her and I don’t even care because what you did with the cleanup is master level.”

One Reddit user took a different approach to the photoshopping task, as they jokingly edited the guest in a black outfit, devil horns, fangs, and red eyes. She was also placed in the front of the picture, blocking some of the other guests.

This isn’t the first time that someone on social media has faced criticism for wearing white at a wedding. In August, Lana Del Rey raised eyebrows after wearing a white, lace dress – featuring small, pink flowers with a halter neckline – to Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley’s wedding.

“Why is she wearing white???” one person asked on X on at the time, while another added: “I get these people are celebrities but like wtf you don’t wear white or anything close to white at a wedding???????”

Typically, it is a rule of thumb that guests should avoid white to a wedding. Speaking to The Knot, wedding dress designer Madeline Gardner explained the reasoning behind this rule and pointed out some other colours that guests should avoid.

“When you’re a guest at a wedding, the most important thing to keep in mind is not to upstage or upset the bride,” she said. “It’s safe to stay away from any outfits that are predominantly white, cream or ivory.”

However, according to the Emily Post Institute, it can be acceptable to wear white, as long as it doesn’t distract from the bride or her bridesmaids’ dresses.

In January 2022, Kendall Jenner was also accused of “upstaging” the bride during her best friend’s wedding, after she wore an extreme cut-out dress to the reception. After the bride, Lauren Perez, shared snaps from the occasion on Instagram, people criticised Jenner’s risqué dress, with claims that they’d “asked her to leave” if it were their wedding.

However, Perez came to her pal’s defense, writing: “[Kendall] looked stunning and I loved it!”

Jenner also left a comment to clarify that she had her friend’s permission to wear the dress. “@laurenperez obvi asked for your approval in advance too. We love a beach wedding,” she wrote at the time.
