Superstore Walmart is facing backlash after shoppers noticed the store is selling “Impeach 45” shirts on its website.

The controversial shirts, which call for the impeachment of President Trump, the 45th president of the United States, were noticed by Ryan Fournier, a President Trump supporter and advocate, who shared the photo on Twitter.

Fournier’s tweet, which asked Walmart: “Why are you selling Impeach 45 baby clothes on your website? What kind of message are you trying to send?” sparked outrage on social media.

After people realised the store’s website has multiple items for sale with the slogan, including the baby outfit noticed by Fournier, a #BoycottWalmart hashtag began trending on Twitter.

“Not that I needed another reason to Boycott Walmart, but they just gave me one and solidified it for me. #BoycottWalmart #IStandWithTrump” wrote one person.

Another tweeted: “You just lost my business! Stay out of politics.”

Walmart’s website sells an array of politically-themed clothing, including merchandise supporting President Trump.

In addition to red “Make America Great Again” hats and shirts, the megastore also sells Trump for President shirts, mugs, and key-chains.

The store has previously faced controversy for a shirt sold on its website that read: “Rope. Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required.”

Following outrage over the shirt, the company swiftly removed it from its website and issued a statement which read: “As soon as we were alerted to this content promoting violence against journalists we removed the content, added this content to our automated scanning systems, and kicked off a human sweep of the site to find and remove any similar content.”

The Independent has contacted Walmart for comment.
