Auto agenda: Shanghai and New York auto shows open to the public

April 23 sees the massive auto show in Shanghai fully open its doors to public visitors, with over a million expected in the run through April 28. New York's International Auto Show also opens to the public April 22, although the opening ceremony will be conducted the morning of April 23.

The 14th edition of this biennial event is expected to showcase how far China has come - even in the two years since it was last held, China has overtaken the US to become the world's largest auto market. No wonder then, that automakers are pulling out all of the stops, with new models expected from national and international names alike, all designed to tap the country's massive (and growing) market.

111th New York International Auto Show

New York, USA

New York, one of America's oldest and most venerable auto shows, is putting on a brave face this year despite being overshadowed by Auto Shanghai. Expect several new launches for the North American and international markets, along with interactive elements such as the EV pavilion and Disney's Cars2 exhibit.
