Kim Kardashian discusses lack of products for her skin tone: 'How will I find something for my girls when they're older?'
The reality TV star explains why she decided to create a shapewear line herself
Kim Kardashian West has revealed one of the reasons she wanted to launch a shapewear line was because she struggled to find anything that matched her skin tone.
The reality TV star’s brand, Skims, includes nine shades, making it one of the most inclusive shapewear companies, with competitors usually producing items in just three or four shades.
Speaking to The New York Times, Kardashian explained why the extensive colour range was particularly important to her.
“I couldn’t find something that would match my skin tone,” she said.
The mother-of-four went on to say how she also considered what shapewear might be available to her daughters when they grow up, telling the publication: “How am I going to find something for my girls when they’re older?”

“It’s really fun for me, and I never get frustrated,” she added.
Elsewhere in the interview, Kardashian opened up about her own insecurities and explained how she used to buy shapewear and cut one of the legs off so that she could wear it underneath skirts or dresses with thigh-high slits.
Now, one-legged shapewear is one of Skims’ signature products.
Kardashian recalled people telling her that the garment wouldn’t translate, but simply told them: “Let’s try it and see.”
“It’s a good feeling to really be confident in something,” she continued, “because a lot of the time, sometimes, I’m not,”
“I feel better when I’m wearing shapewear. That’s just me.”
