A by-law requiring porn actors to wear condoms during film shoots has been tentatively approved by Los Angeles councillors.
The measure, which was backed by an 11-1 vote on Tuesday, still needs to be approved by a second poll next week.
Under the rule, makers of pornographic films would have to provide and require the use of condoms on set in order to obtain permits to film in the city.
Final approval would supersede a proposed ballot initiative by the Aids Healthcare Foundation, which has long called for mandatory condom use in adult films.
