Gigi Hadid confirms pregnancy on Jimmy Fallon show

Gigi Hadid has confirmed that she is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Zayn Malik.

Reports began circulating that the model was pregnant earlier this week, with her mother Yolanda confirming the news on Wednesday.

But it wasn’t until Thursday evening during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that Hadid spoke about the pregnancy herself.

Speaking to Fallon from home, Hadid explained that she and Malik had hoped to announce the news themselves.

“Obviously we wish we could have announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support,” she said.

Hadid added that “it’s a nice silver lining” to be pregnant during lockdown with Malik and “really experience it day by day”.

The model went on to discuss her birthday celebrations, which took place last week.

“We did a breakfast party of like a few people, and then a dinner party of the same few people, so we tried to make it a day.”

Hadid also spoke about her unusual birthday cake, which was in the shape of an everything bagel and made by Buddy Valastro from the reality TV show Cake Boss.

The cake “blew [her] mind”, she said, explaining that she had been craving everything bagels throughout her pregnancy.

The model revealed she was overcome by emotion upon seeing the cake.

“I don’t know if it was my hormones right now or just like quarantine emotional-ness, I cried every five minutes for like an hour every time I thought about that Buddy made my cake. I couldn’t stop crying... from happiness.

“I was so honoured that he would make me a cake during quarantine.”
