Fifa 20 teaser

Fifa 20 will come out on 27 September, 2019, EA Sports has said.

The company has tweeted a video confirming the release date as well as other details about the game.

It will be built on EA's normal Frostbite engine on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to a teaser posted to EA Sports' Twitter page. It did not mention a Switch version of the game, though that might be because the release and game will be slightly different than that on other platforms, as in previous years.

The company has promised to reveal more about the game in a live stream that will take place on Friday. That will be part of EA's pre-E3 announcements, during which it will reveal information about all of its upcoming games.

But in the meantime, fans have been picking through the brief teaser trailer to try and find details about the game.

It includes a message that "the stadium is anywhere", for instance, which fans have suggested could be an indication that the game could include cross-pay. That would allow PlayStation and Xbox players to go against each other in an online game, for instance.

And it also has an unusual "V" character that pops up within the video. Some have taken that as a suggestion that there could be a 5-a-side mode within the game – but it might simply be a graphic that developers have opted to include.
