For many families, Fathers’ Day celebrations this year looked slightly different due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

While those able to see their parents in-person chose to mark the occasion with cards, breakfast in bed and family picnics, others showcased their love on social media, including a host of famous faces.

David Beckham, Fearne Cotton and Joe Wicks were among the celebrities to take to Instagram to show their appreciation, with some posting throwback photos of their dads and paternal figures, and others sharing messages of love for their own children.

A number of members of the royal family also shared heartfelt tributes, including Prince Charles who posted a photo of himself as a child with his parents, the Queen and Prince Philip.

Similarly, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked the occasion by releasing two new images of Prince William playing with their three children and a throwback photo of Kate Middleton with her father.

Here are some of this year’s best celebrity Father’s Day tributes on Instagram.

David Beckham

Former footballer David Beckham celebrated the day by sharing a throwback black-and-white photo of himself as a child posing with his father, Ted. In the caption, Beckham thanked his dad for giving him “the drive and work ethic to succeed”.

Prince Charles

The Prince of Wales’ official Instagram account shared two photos of Charles – one with his own father, Prince Philip, which was taken in 1951 and one with his two children Prince William and Harry, which was taken at the Cirencester Park Polo Cup in 2004. “Whether you are a Father, a Dad, a Daddy or a Pa, wishing you a Happy Father’s Day!” the caption read.

Joe Wicks

Fitness guru Joe Wicks shared a series of photos of himself with his two children, Indie and Marley. “Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. The unconditional love we feel for our children is so special. Have a great day with your family,” The Body Coach captioned the images.

Fearne Cotton

Fearne Cotton shared a series of images on Father’s Day including a selfie taken with her dad, Michael. “Happy Father Day pops. Micky Cotton you’re a legend and I thank my lucky stars for you every day,” she wrote. The presenter also paid tribute to her partner, Jesse Wood, writing: “We love you to the moon”.

Drake

“God’s Plan” rapper Drake marked Father’s Day in the early hours of Sunday with an Instagram post featuring a rare photo of his two-year-old son, Adonis, sitting in bed while watching TV. “Happy Fathers Day to all the real g’z handling business,” Drake wrote in the caption while tagging his own father, Dennis Graham.

Prince William

The Duke of Cambridge had two reasons to celebrate this weekend, as he marked Father’s Day and also his 38th birthday. Prince William shared two new photos of himself and his three children Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, which were taken in the garden at the family’s Anmer Hall residence on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. William and Kate also shared two photos of themselves with their fathers, including a throwback image of the duchess as a child with her dad, Michael Middleton.

John Boyega

Star Wars actor John Boyega shared a photo of himself and his father on Instagram alongside a caption in which he listed the multitude of things his dad has done for him over the years. “I remember everything that makes you great, and because of that, my dream is to be as great as YOU,” Boyega wrote.

Rochelle Humes

Marvin Humes is enjoying his last Father’s Day as a dad-of-two before the radio host and his wife Rochelle welcome their third child.

This Morning presenter Rochelle shared a number of black-and-white photos of the her husband with their two daughters Alaia-Mai, seven, and Valentina, three, on Instagram. “Happy Fathers Day to the man we got SO lucky to call our own. Watching you be and grow as a dad is something so special to me,” she wrote.
