RompHim: The ridiculous kickstarter campaign trying to make male playsuits a thing

'I think we've taken crowdfunding too far'

The brand believe that the RompHim could be the start of a fashion revolution

A Kickstarter campaign launched by a company that appears to be run exclusively by start-up bros is trying to make rompers for men a thing. Deep sigh.

Now, while we more than welcome people to wear whatever they like, rompers, or playsuits as they are otherwise known, are something we just can’t get on board with.

Effectively onesises for adults, there have previously been high-fashion attempts at rompers for men but they have yet to take off as a real-life casual-wear option; and with good reason.

Firstly, we have to address the brand’s fixation with asserting how macho the RompHim is.

A guy wearing something traditionally feminine? Perish the thought – this is, just to clarify, exclusively designed for seriously manly men.

What’s more the brand say they came up with the self-proclaimed ‘super-garment’ while sitting around drinking beers and that it guarantees to not only turn heads, but break hearts too.

If that wasn’t enough, the campaign shots feature a group of bros shot in their natural habitats. You know, casually playing pool, attending baseball games and cavorting at an all-guys Champagne spray party in your romper, shades and a fur coat.

Naturally, Twitter had a lot to say about the RompHim.

“So my immediate reaction to RompHim was remembering that toddlers and douchebags wear the same kind of clothes,” on person wrote.

While another added, “Just me, in a RompHim, with a fidget spinner, and a grande Unicorn Latte. That's what I want the world to remember about 2017.”

But, perhaps the most infuriating part of this creation is that men who choose to wear the RompHim will never fully appreciate the special hell that women have to go through when they wear a playsuit.

While for us girls, wearing a romper means stripping off whenever you need the bathroom, the guys over at Aced Design fully side-lined the dilemma with a handy zipper fly.

“How much easier does peeing have to be for y'all hmm? The point of a romper is it's impractical but cute,” one person added.
