SARA STURGEON, the designer best known for her washed-silk separates, is going on the road.

Store appearances are nothing new in America, where designers regularly make the effort to meet their customers, but the British tend to be customer-shy. Sturgeon deserves full marks for getting out and about to talk about her work.

The highlight of the tour is a full fashion workshop at the Pump Rooms in Bath on 5 May, when there will be a 25 per cent discount on the new collection.

Sara Sturgeon's tour includes: Stuff, 2-2a George Street, Richmond, Surrey (16 April); Diffusion, 47 Clentarf Road, Dublin (22 April); Warehouse, 61-65 Glasford Street, Glasgow (28 April); Pump Rooms, Roman Baths, Bath (5 May); Joanna's Tent, 289b King's Road, London SW3 (May 7). Contact individual shops for times. Tickets for the full fashion presentation in Bath are pounds 5.50.
