Donald Trump might have just trumped himself, sartorially speaking.

The President was spotted disembarking his helicopter on Wednesday and has been described as looking more like an overstuffed cylindrical mass than the leader of the free world.

Donning what can only be described as a navy blue polyester profanity, Trump was spotted returning to the White House after participating in a roundtable discussion on tax reform in West Virginia… but all eyes were on his ill-fitting coat.

As if wearing an oversized, calf-grazing garment two sizes too big for you wasn’t enough of a fashion faux pas, it’s the bizarre lumps that seem to have captured the imaginations of social media users across the globe, conspiring as to what Trump might’ve been hiding in his overcoat.

While some Twitter users were quick to question his physical autonomy (“The President is actually three people”), others disputed his basic humanity: "I can't believe that you all never noticed that Donald Trump is three dogs in a coat".

Other assumptions as to what Trump’s lumps might've been caused by include stacks of McDonald’s coupons (he's a big fan), silverware from the White House, and 37 Trump-branded steaks.

Before you start making your own assumptions, be warned that a photoshopped version of the original image has been circulating online, in which the President’s silhouette has been made to resemble an even more exaggerated bulging frankfurter-esque profusion than it may already be.

The manipulated image - which some have mistaken for the real one taken by Chip Somodevilla - was created by Vic Berger IV, who edits comedy clips for Super Deluxe.

“It’s really only five per cent worse than the original,” he told Gizmodo.

Whether you’re looking at the unedited version or the digitally-altered one, there’s no denying that Trump could really do with a serious talking to when it comes to his style choices.

From mismatched suits to obscenely-long ties, there are no limits to the President’s subversive sartorial blunders.

Forget about tax reform, the far more pressing concern propelled by #coatgate is: Does the President actually know how to dress himself?
