Beyonce pays tribute to mum Tina Lawson in powerful Mother’s Day message

‘Dear Mama, I am thankful for every part of you and every second I share with you’

Beyonce has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to her mother Tina Lawson with a powerful message on Mother's Day.

The "Halo" singer, 38, shared a portrait picture of Ms Lawson with her 145 million Instagram followers on 10 May - the date of Mother's Day in the US.

The snap, which appears to be from the 80s, included the message: "MY MAMA WAS A SAVAGE, GOT THIS SH*T FROM TINA".

The quote makes reference to a new remix of Megan Thee Stallion's hit single "Savage", a remix the pair recently collaborated on as part of a charity relief effort.

Fellow Texans Beyonce and Megan The Thee Stallion released the track at the end of April, announcing that all artist proceeds would go to Bread Of Life - a disaster relief organisation located in their hometown Houston.

"Dear Mama, I am thankful for every part of you and every second I share with you. Thank you for giving me life and thank you for expanding my consciousness," Beyonce wrote in a caption accompanying the post.

"I would not have been able to do any of what I’ve done in my life without your strength, your wisdom and your prayers.

"My biggest goal in life is for my children to feel the love you make us all feel. I appreciate you and thank you with every ounce of admiration and respect. To anyone reading, please thank and appreciate your mom today and everyday [sic]".

Beyonce's post, which has already been liked millions of times, also included a collage of pictures showing Lawson at different stages of her life.

"I’m sending all my love and positivity to anyone missing their angel moms today. I love y’all deep. Gang gang gang gang and thank you for all the Mother’s Day wishes. Sending Big Texas hugs, Mama B [sic]" the caption continued.

Lawson responded with a message of her own on Instagram, describing her eldest daughter as "a phenomenal Mom!"

"She let’s me know that I did something right in raising and helping to raise (Kelly) three amazing mothers She makes me proud everyday! [sic]" she wrote.

Beyonce and her mother have been working together to aid the coronavirus relief effort in Houston.

Last week, Beyonce thanked her mother's "incredible vision" as they teamed up to help with mobile testing efforts.

"Seeing my hometown do their part and get tested today brought me so much joy! H-Town, I love y’all" she wrote in a message of thanks.
