Beyoncé and Meghan Markle embrace at The Lion King premiere in London

While the UK was celebrating several sporting wins on Sunday afternoon, music and British royalty met to celebrate a cinematographic triumph in Leicester Square.

At the London premiere of the live-action adaptation of The Lion King, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in matching black attire, with Meghan sporting a black Jason Wu cocktail dress with a thin mesh overlay and sleeves, while Prince Harry donned a black tuxedo.

The duchess, who welcomed her son Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor in May, teamed the look with a small black satin clutch bag from Gucci and a pair of sling-back black pumps by Aquazurra.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé was seen wearing a custom gold pleated gown with a thigh-high slit by Vietnamese designer Cong Tri. The singer, who stars as Nala in the adaptation of the 1994 animated film, posed alongside her husband, Jay-Z who looked dapper in a black tuxedo.

During the star-studded event, which saw Beyoncé’s castmates Florence Kasumba, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner also walk the yellow and paw-print coloured carpet at the premiere, the royals had a brief moment to chat with Beyoncé and Jay-Z ahead of the film viewing.

The singer embraced the duchess on meeting, before describing Archie as “so beautiful” and adding that she and her husband “love” the couple.

During their encounter, Jay-Z also offered some words of wisdom to Prince Harry and Meghan about parenting.

“The best advice I can give you, always find time for yourself," the singer said.

The foursome’s encounter comes months after Beyoncé and Jay-Z accepted their Brit Award while standing in front of a portrait of Meghan Markle.
