Design star Starck enters Paris waxworks

Design guru Philippe Starck is poised to make French history by becoming the first in his field to enter the Paris waxworks museum, the Musee Grevin.

Fast-talking hyperactive Starck, an architect and designer now in his early 60s, is "one of the most world-known contemporary French creators," the Grevin museum said Monday, announcing a wax Starck for June 15.

"It is the first time in Grevin's history that a designer will be admitted," added the statement from the establishment founded in 1882.

Starck's museum-piece designs range from toothbrushes to fly-swats to sofas to motorbikes while he also works on luxury hotels and upscale restaurants.

Appropriately the wax Starck will be shown standing with one hand leaning on one of his celebrated chairs, a "Louis Ghost", a transparent seat in polycarbonate inspired by the antique Louis XV school.
