Collider supplier to make parts for Volkswagen
A Birmingham-based manufacturer that played a part in finding the "God particle" by supplying parts for the Large Hadron Collider, has won a lucrative car manufacturing contract on the back of its work with CERN. Brandauer is about to push the button on production of connector terminal pins for electrical wiring in Fiat and Volkswagen cars – with plans to produce 50 million a year, rising to 100 million over the next three years. Rowan Crozier, a director at Brandauer, said: "The Large Hadron Collider has given us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our precision manufacturing." The car manufacturing win is the latest in a line of new business. Brandauer, which is 150 years old, has secured £3.5m of contracts this year.
