If you’ve long been lusting after a pair of designer shoes, then your wedding day is a very good excuse to treat yourself. We’ve sifted our way through offerings from big-name designers to bring you some stand-out pairs. We’re talking the kind of shoes that mean your feet will get as much attention as your dress.

1. Jimmy Choo Laurita 115: £595, Jimmy Choo

We reckon these Italian-made silver beauties will work beyond your wedding day. The upper’s a mix of polished silver leather and super-fine glitter panels, fastened with a delicate gold buckle. They’re leather-lined with leather soles, so look super-sleek. They’re high at 115mm but the generous platform will keep you standing for the whole day.

2. Christian Louboutin Beloved 120 patent: £675, Selfridges

You still get Louboutin’s much-coveted red soles but combined with a delicate floral laser cut design on patent leather, with an unusual sculpted heel. At 120mm, these are high but we think they’re seriously pretty show-stoppers.

3. Sophia Webster Coco Crystal: £395, Sophia Webster

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…” Sophia Webster clearly had the traditional rhyme in mind when she designed these baby blue pumps. Her capsule bridal collection has proved super-popular since launching last year. We love the glittery heel on these ones and the soles have “Wifey” stamped on the left and “For Lifey” on the other side. They’re lots of fun and sell out fast but you can sign in to get a stock alert when more come in.

4. Manolo Blahnik Hangisi 105 Glittered Pumps: £680, Harvey Nichols

If you were a Sex and the City fan, you’re probably familiar with Manolo Blahnik’s Hangisi pumps – the satin blue version were Carrie’s favourite pair. With the trademark crystal embellishment on the toe, they come in a range of styles. Our pick of the lot is this woven, glittered pair that will make you feel like a real-life Cinderella (who gets her Prince Charming at the alter).

5. Miu Miu Glittered Leather Sandals: £365, Net-a-Porter

Swap sky-scraper heels for low block ones instead. These from Prada’s sister label are in gold leather, covered in matching glitter that will add a bit of sparkle as you walk down the aisle. The slim ankle strap keeps them looking dainty but they don’t scream “wedding shoes”, so you’ll get a lot of wear out of them after your big day.

6. Aquazzura Sexy Thing Bridal 105 Lace and Leather Heeled Sandals: £420, Selfridges

Emma Watson, Gigi Hadid and Rihanna are all fans of Aquazzura, the brand founded by Colombian-born shoe designer Edgardo Osorio in 2011. This pair is edgier than your average bridal shoe. They combine pretty lace, trimmed with leather and with a feminine teardrop-shaped cut out on the front. They fasten at the ankle with a silk-satin bow.

Verdict

Both Jimmy Choo and Miu Miu's are shoes you’ll be able to wear way beyond your big day – and Miu Miu’s glittery block heels are a good bet if you plan to spend the night on the dance floor. For something a little edgier, Aquazzura’s lace and leather beauties are our pick.
