World leaders have gathered in Paris for the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

It is hoped that an international agreement can be reached to tackle climate change around the world.

In Plenary 1, Heads of State are due to give national statements.

Yesterday people took to the streets all over the globe hopeing to stir world leaders into significant action.

People waved placards that warned there is “No Planet B”, while others dressed as polar bears.

In the absence of an organised march in Paris, shoes were laid to signify how many would have taken part if not the for current state of emergency.

The Pope contributed a pair of his own shoes to this symbolic protest.
