Good Day for Mickey Mouse, as the organisers of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival reached agreement with Walt Disney Attractions for the use of cartoon characters in their parade. The principal condition, however, is that women dancers accompanying the parade shall keep their clothes on. And Minnie Mouse must not go topless.

Bad Day for leg-crossers, as a Kuwaiti newspaper columnist called for a new law to ban foreign officials from crossing their legs at state functions. Faisal al-Qanai, secretary of the Kuwait Journalists Association said: "I am provoked by official pictures published by newspapers of some senior officials showing foreign state guests who are crossing their legs."
