(Netflix)

Netflix just released the first proper trailer for Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, a prequel to the 2001 cult classic that sees its all-star cast return and yet play younger versions of their characters wonderfully unexplained.

The trailer lists its stellar cast to the point of self-parody, reeling off names including Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Bradley Cooper and Amy Poehler and "introducing Jon Hamm…"

It's hilarious seeing the now well-established cast playing themselves as teenagers, though in fairness Rudd still doesn't look a day over 17.

Plot details teased include Ben (Cooper) and Susie (Poehler) starting a Camp Firewood summer theatre program and a back story for the camp's chef (Christopher Meloni).

The full trailer follows a throwback VHS-esque promo video for Camp Firewood Netflix posted last week.

Creators David Wain and Michael Showalter weren't content with reassembling almost all of the original cast for the prequel but have added a load more famous faces too.

Other actors rattled off in the trailer include Jason Schwartzman, Michael Ian Black, Kristen Wiig, Jordan Peele, Michael Cera, John Slattery, Chris Pine, Judah Friedlander, H. Jon Benjamin, Weird Al Yankovic and Lake Bell.
