The Mandalorian: Bryce Dallas Howard says her five-year-old daughter helped shape plot of show

Actor turned director oversaw two episodes of series

Bryce Dallas Howard, one of the directors of The Mandalorian TV series, has said her daughter influenced the storyline of the Star Wars spin-off.

In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Howard described how Beatrice, who was five years old when she watched early screenings of the show, worried about the whereabouts of Baby Yoda.

The Black Mirror star said series creator Jon Favreau picked up on Beatrice's concern for the character.

“Jon noticed early on in the process that whenever Baby [Yoda] wasn't on screen, Beatrice would start asking me, 'Where's baby? Where did baby go?'” Howard said. 

Favreau noticed that not knowing Baby Yoda's whereabouts was making Beatrice “stressed”, so Howard told him: “Jon, I think we need to know where baby is the whole time.”

The conversation led to a change in storyline, meaning that viewers are kept informed as to where Baby Yoda is and who is looking after him.

The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal recently denied demanding to have more face-time on the show, which sees him wearing a mask in most scenes.

In the series, Pascal plays the lead role of Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter who takes a young child of Yoda’s species under his wing.

The final episode of The Mandalorian's second season will be released on Disney+ on Friday.
