Stranger Things fans are patiently waiting for the third season to finally reach Netflix – rumoured for an early 2019 release – hoping to discover what’s next for the residence of Hawkins.

Luckily, some new Stranger Things-related materials are coming before then, including one very exciting prequel story about a key character.

Deadline reports that two books based on the critically acclaimed Netflix series will reach shops later this year, one a behind-the-scenes companion (titled Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-The-Scenes Companion) and the other an as-yet-untitled hardcover gift book for young readers that will offer “advice, wisdom, and warnings from the Stranger Things world.”

Perhaps more excitingly, come Spring next year and Penguin Random House will be releasing a prequel novel, written by Girl on a Wire author Gwenda Bond, about the MKUltra program and Eleven’s mother.

The publication also reports that further titles for both adults and young readers will be released throughout 2019.

Meanwhile, season three continues filming in Atlanta. Little information about the upcoming episodes is currently known other than Francesca Reale, Cary Elwes and Jake Busey have all being cast in new roles.
