Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi announces Joel Edgerton, Benny Safdie and Kumail Nanjiani will join cast
A full cast list for the spin-off has been announced
The impressive line-up for Star Wars spin-off series Obi-Wan Kenobi has been announced.
It was previously revealed that Star Wars prequel stars Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen would be reprising their original roles as Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, respectively.
Now, as per a Twitter announcement, Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Joel Edgerton (Boy Erased), Bonnie Piesse (The Vow), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) and Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) have been announced as new cast additions.
Joining them will be Rupert Friend (Homeland), O’Shea Jackson Jr (Straight Outta Compton), Sung Kang (Fast & Furious), Simone Kessell (Reckoning) and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems).
According to the show’s synopsis, the story begins 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, which saw McGregor’s Kenobi face his greatest defeat and the corruption of his best friend Anakin Skywalker (Christensen) turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Deborah Chow is signed on as the show’s sole director, having previously worked behind the camera on two episodes of The Mandalorian.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is one of several shows set in the Star Wars universe that will be released on Disney’s streaming service.
Along with another season of The Mandalorian, which debuted on Disney Plus in the US last year, there are plans for a series based around Diego Luna’s Rogue One character Cassian Andor.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to begin production in April and will be available to watch exclusively on Disney Plus.
