Marvel Studios' Black Widow Trailer

Scarlett Johansson has run through Natasha Romanoff’s greatest moments ahead of Black Widow.

The actor, who has played the character since Iron Man 2 in 2010, is hyping up her Marvel Cinematic Universe importance in advance of her standalone film.

Originally set to be released in May 2020, the film faced repeated delays due to the pandemic – and it will now be unveiled on 9 July 2021.

The prequel will be released simultaneously in select cinemas and on Disney Plus, where it will be available for a premium fee.

In the new promo, Johansson asks: “How much do you really know about the elusive Natasha Romanoff?”

She continues: “When it was time to assemble the Avengers, who did SHIELD call?

“Former KGB assassin, Agent of SHIELD and Avengers, she fought for the battle of New York, squared off against the Winter Soldier, defended the world against Ultron.

“She signed the Sokovia Accords, and dealt with all that fallout, and beat back the forces of Thanos.”

Elaborating upon her point that Black Widow is one of the MCU’s most crucial characters, Johansson adds: “When all seemed lost, she held the team together – but how well do you really know her? It’s time for her story.

“You’ve been waiting for this,” she says in the clip.

Considering the film’s many delays, you could say that again...
