The first trailer featuring actual footage from the upcoming eighth season of Game of Thrones has landed, sending speculators into a tizzy.
Having teased the show’s swansong with several brief clips, HBO and Sky Atlantic unveiled its biggest look yet at the final six episodes , which will begin airing on 14 April.

Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdownShow all 25 1 /25Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Arya The trailer opens with Arya (Maisie Williams) breathing heavily, having seemingly done something hugely shocking. She then starts to run. What exactly from, we can only speculate. Considering it's hard to rattle the girl with no-name, the pursuer is no doubt someone (or something) pretty terrifying.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Davos mans the wall's of Winterfell The Onion Knight (Liam Cunningham) was last seen advising Jon Snow (Kit Harrington). Now, he's preparing to go to war once again. There have been numerous reports on the scale of the upcoming battle - nicknamed 'The Long Night' by the cast and crew. Apparently, the fight against (presumably) the White Walkers will be the show's longest battle.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Arya running in the dark Arya continues to run. At first, it appears as if her eye is missing. However, it turns out it's just a splotch of blood on her face. Whoever she's running from looks to have had a tussle with the Stark girl.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Varys hides Despite being one of the most powerful figures in Westeros, when the battle comes, Varys (Conleth Hill) hides away with the women and children. He hasn't come all this way just to be killed by a White Walker, after all.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown "I know death" "He has many faces. I'm looking forward to seeing this one." Arya talking tough and pointing a dragonstone knife at someone. That will come in handy killing White Walkers. But who's she facing off against? The person she's running from? Will another name be ticked off the list?
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Summoning an army Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) may have told everyone he was taking his Kranken-embezzled ships to the Iron Islands to flee the White Walkers, but as he promised to Cersei (Lena Heady), another plan is afoot.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown The Golden Army Euron looks to have hired The Golden Army to fight for Cersei. They are pictured travelling to Westeros from Essos. The army were mentioned by Cersei early in season seven, when she asked the Iron Banker Tycho (Mark Gatiss) for a load to pay for their services.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown They're alive! Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer) and Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) may have last been seen at the doomed Wall, but they're still seemingly alive and kicking. For how long, we do not know. But with the Night King having knocked down the ancient barrier, they likely do not have long.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Bran and Sam "Everything you did brought you to where you are now," the Three-Eyed Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) says, seemingly to Sam (John Bradley). Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Back at King's Landing... Cersei and the villainous Qyburn (Anton Lesser) stand with their army in King's Landing. Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Fire and Ice The final words of Bran echo out: "Where you belong. Home." Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon ride, side-by-side, into Westeros. A King and Queen; an aunt and her nephew. Yes, the family politics are about to get very twisted.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Dragons! At Winterfell! Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) witnesses Danny's remaining two dragons, Drogon and Rhaegal, flying over Winterfell, her breath taken away. Let's try not to think about their now undead brother.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Down in the crypts Danny looks on, worried about her lover/nephew. Seeing as the Winterfell crypts are where we first learn of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, his parents, perhaps Jon has come here to make sense of everything. Danny does not look too put off by the revelation.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown The true heir to the Throne? Gendry (Joe Dempsie) is back and forging weapons. Like how his father, Robert Baratheon, and Ned Stark rode into battle, side by side, Gendry hopes to fight alongside Jon. However, Jon's not Ned's bastard, but a Targaryen - the arch nemesis of the Baratheons.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Public display of affection On the eve of battle, Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) kiss. As Jon says, the dead have no feeling, but the living do.
Game of Thrones season 8 trailer breakdown Who's side are you on? Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) shouts as someone battles a foe through fire. Seeing as we last saw the Lannister heading North in spite of his pregnant sister's wishes, chances are he's fighting White Walkers.

The show’s actors, though – including Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Iain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont) – revealed the “ gruelling “ shoot left them “broken” and “miserable”.
